Measuring a room
Measure the longest wall for the length and the perpendicular wall for the width, then multiply. Record measurements in one unit before multiplying — mixing feet and meters silently corrupts the answer, which is why the calculator asks for the same unit on both fields and reports the result in both square feet and square meters.
Estimating cost from area
Enter a price per square unit to turn the area into a budget figure — handy for flooring quotes, lawn treatment, or comparing rents quoted per square foot. Materials like flooring and tile need a waste allowance on top, usually 5–15% depending on the layout and the size of the pieces.

How do I handle closets and alcoves?
Measure them as their own rectangles and add each area to the main room. Anything you will cover or condition counts; anything you will not can be left out.
How many square feet is a square meter?
One square meter is about 10.764 square feet. The results panel always shows the area in both units so you can quote either figure without converting by hand.
