The detailed guide below is currently available in English.

How much should you tip?

At US sit-down restaurants, 15–20% of the pre-tax bill is the customary range, with 20% or more recognizing excellent service. Bartenders typically get $1–2 per drink, food delivery 10–20%, and taxi or rideshare drivers 10–15%. Always glance at the bill first: some venues add a service charge or automatic gratuity for large parties, and tipping on top of that is optional.

Splitting the check fairly

The per-person figure splits the bill and tip evenly. If one person ordered substantially more, the fairest approach is to tip on the shared total and settle individual items separately — but for everyday meals, an even split keeps the math (and the mood at the table) simple.

Câu hỏi thường gặp

Should I tip on the pre-tax or after-tax amount?

Etiquette guides say pre-tax, since tax is not part of the service you are rewarding. The difference is usually small — a few percent of the tax itself.

How does the split work?

Enter the number of people and the calculator divides the bill-plus-tip total evenly, and also shows the tip portion per person so everyone can chip in accurately.
