Repayment vs. interest-only in the UK

Most UK mortgages are repayment: each month you pay interest plus some capital, and the balance reaches zero at the end of the term. Interest-only keeps payments low because the capital is never repaid monthly — but the whole loan falls due at the end, and lenders now insist on a credible repayment vehicle. The LTV shown matters for pricing: dropping below 60% or 75% typically unlocks better rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much deposit do I need in the UK?

A 5% deposit can qualify for some 95% LTV products, but the best rates usually require 10–25%. Every extra 5% of deposit tends to step you into a cheaper band.

Does this include stamp duty or arrangement fees?

No. Stamp Duty Land Tax (or the Scottish/Welsh equivalents), product fees, and legal costs are one-off charges on top of the monthly payment shown.
