The daily math
Packs are sold in twenties, so cigarettes per day ÷ 20 gives packs per day, and that times your pack price is the daily burn. The calculator spreads it across the week, the month, and a 365-day year — a half-pack a day at $8 a pack is a quiet $4 daily, $28 weekly, and $1,460 yearly. Because prices rise faster than most incomes, the yearly figure tends to creep up between one shop and the next.
What the years add up to
Enter how long you have smoked and the long-run total appears — small daily amounts are excellent at disguising large lifetime ones. The streaming comparison is just one lens on that number: the same money at $15 a month buys years of subscriptions, a flight, or a serious dent in a savings goal. It is not a lecture or a promise about what you should do, only a clear look at what the habit currently costs — and what else it could be.

Questions fréquentes
My pack has 25 cigarettes — what price do I enter?
Convert it to a 20-pack equivalent: multiply your pack price by 20/25 (0.8). The math then stays consistent with the cigarettes-per-day figure you entered.
Does this include lighters, insurance, and other extras?
No — it counts cigarettes only. Smokers typically also pay more for life and health insurance, more frequent dry cleaning, and dental care, so the true total runs higher than the rows above.
Where does the streaming comparison come from?
It divides the annual (or lifetime) total by $15 a month, a typical single-screen streaming subscription, and shows how many years that would fund. It is one relatable benchmark rather than a recommendation of what to buy.
