From time card to payroll hours

The calculator measures the span from clock-in to clock-out, removes the unpaid break, and reports the result two ways: as hours and minutes (7:30) and as decimal hours (7.5). Payroll software almost always multiplies decimal hours by your hourly rate, so the decimal figure is the one to compare against your pay stub.

Overnight shifts

If the clock-out time is earlier than or equal to the clock-in time, the shift is treated as crossing midnight — a 22:00 to 06:00 entry counts as eight hours on the day it started. For a full week of shifts, use the weekly hours calculator instead.

Preguntas frecuentes

How do I enter a shift that ends after midnight?

Just enter the times as they happened — for example 22:00 in and 06:00 out. Because the out time is earlier than the in time, the calculator automatically carries the shift into the next day.

Why does my pay stub show a different number of hours?

Employers round clock punches in different ways (to the nearest 5, 6, or 15 minutes), and some paid breaks are not deductible. Compare the decimal-hours figure and adjust the break minutes to match your employer’s rounding policy.
