How your age is calculated

This calculator measures the exact span between your date of birth and a reference date, usually today. It borrows a page from the calendar itself: years are counted first, then whole months, then the leftover days. Because months have different lengths, the number of days can shift slightly depending on the months involved — for example, one month from January 31 lands on February 28 or 29.

Why the totals are useful

The headline result is what most people expect, but the totals answer other common questions. Total days or hours come up on forms, visa applications, and milestone celebrations such as your 10,000th day. The next-birthday countdown tells you exactly how long until the celebration, and the day-of-the-week line is handy for trivia or for checking what day a memorable birth date fell on.

Veelgestelde vragen

Why does my age in days differ from another website?

Most tools agree on total days, but the years/months/days breakdown can differ by a day or so near month boundaries, because calendars mix 28-, 29-, 30-, and 31-day months. This calculator counts calendar months the way anniversaries work.

Can I calculate an age at a past or future date?

Yes. Fill in the "Age at Date" fields with any date to see how old you were or will be then — useful for school cutoffs, eligibility rules, or planning a milestone birthday.

What happens if I was born on February 29?

Your birthday is counted at the end of February in common years, so the countdown still works: it points to February 28 in years without a leap day and to February 29 in leap years.
